The tour begins early, at 4:00 AM, with visitors being picked up at their hotel in Cusco. From there, a minivan ride is made to the Poroy or Ollantaytambo train station. During the journey, passengers can enjoy panoramic views of the Andean landscape. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the base town for visiting Machu Picchu, travelers will board a bus that will take them to the entrance of the archaeological site.

Challenge

After the guided tour, visitors will enjoy free time to explore Machu Picchu at their own pace. They can choose to have lunch at one of the local restaurants or enjoy lunch at one of the luxurious establishments available in Aguas Calientes (advance reservation recommended). Morning

  • Pickup in Cusco:
    The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco.
    Trip to Mollepata:
    A vehicle ride is made to Mollepata, enjoying panoramic views of the Sacred Valley.

Afternoon

  • Start of the Trek:
    From Mollepata, the hike begins to Soraypampa, located at an altitude of 3,800 meters above sea level. This first day is generally a relatively easy hike to acclimatize to the altitude.

Morning

  • Breakfast:
    Start the day with a nutritious breakfast.
  • Trekking to Salkantay Pass:
    On this day, you trek to the highest point of the tour, the Salkantay Pass, at 4,600 meters above sea level. This stretch is challenging but offers stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

Afternoon

  • Descent to Challway:
    After reaching the pass, you descend towards Challway, where you will set up camp for the night.

Morning

  • Breakfast:
    Enjoy a delicious breakfast before beginning the hike.
  • Trekking to La Playa:
    This day involves walking through different terrains, including cloud forests and lush valleys. You will pass through small villages and coffee plantations before reaching La Playa.

Return to Cusco:
